FortisVPN will not connect or is stuck on "Connecting"

Six quick checks, in order. Most people are connected again after the first two.

Last updated September 25, 2026

1. Check your internet

Turn Fortis off and open any website. If nothing opens, the problem is your Wi-Fi or mobile data, not Fortis. Restart your router, or switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

2. Pick another country

One server may be busy. Choose a different country or city and connect again.

3. Change the protocol

Some Wi-Fi networks, often in hotels, offices and schools, block VPNs. Choose OpenVPN and connect again.

4. Restart

Close Fortis completely, open it again and connect. If that does not help, restart your computer, phone or TV.

5. Update Fortis

Install the newest version from the download page or your app store.

6. Check your antivirus (Windows)

An antivirus or firewall can block Fortis. See Antivirus or firewall is blocking FortisVPN.
