Slow speeds while connected

A small slowdown is normal. A large one usually has a simple cause.

A VPN is always a little slower. If it is much slower, try these.

1. Pick a country near you

The closer the server, the faster it is. Choose your own country or a neighbouring one, or try another city.

2. Use Automatic or WireGuard

These are the fastest. OpenVPN is slower, so only use it if the others will not connect. See how on Windows or Android.

3. Check your own internet

Turn Fortis off and run a speed test, for example on fast.com. If it is slow without Fortis too, restart your router.

4. Pause big downloads

Backups, game updates and other people streaming on the same Wi-Fi all share your speed.
