Streaming service shows a VPN or proxy error
"You seem to be using a VPN or proxy" and what to do about it.
Last updated September 25, 2026
Streaming services try to block VPN addresses. When they spot one, they show a VPN or proxy message.
1. Pick another city or server
Choose a different city in the same country and try again.
2. Close and reopen the streaming app
Streaming apps remember your location. Close the app completely after you connect, then open it again. In a browser, close every tab of that site, or use a private window.
3. Turn off location for the app
On phones, some apps use your GPS location. Turn off location access for the streaming app in your phone's settings.
4. Get a dedicated IP
A dedicated IP is an address only you use, so it is blocked far less often. See Add a dedicated IP.
You are responsible for following the terms of any service you use while connected.
