Another VPN or "Always-on VPN" is interfering on Android

Only one VPN can run at a time. Turn the other one off.

Last updated September 25, 2026

Android lets only one VPN run at a time. Another VPN app, or an ad blocker that works like a VPN, can stop Fortis.

1. Turn the other VPN off

Open your phone's Settings and search for VPN. Every VPN app is listed there. Tap the settings icon next to any app that is not Fortis and turn off Always-on VPN.

2. Remove VPN apps you do not use

Uninstall other VPN, "free VPN" and ad-blocking apps you no longer need.

3. Work phone?

If your employer manages your phone, they may require their own VPN. Fortis cannot replace it.
